Wola Karczewska – Karczew

The new Wola Karczewska – Karczew gas pipeline is a component of the investment program entitled "Construction and modernization of gas infrastructure comprising the new concept of supplying the Warsaw agglomeration". The result of the investment will be a safe and modern natural gas transmission infrastructure, which:

• will enable increased and stable gas transmission to customers from the electric power sector and distribution operators operating in the Warsaw agglomeration,
• will strengthen the energy security of the state and the region,
• will ensure continuity of power supply and reliable gas deliveries to Warsaw and its neighboring municipalities,
• it will also create opportunities to connect new industrial customers, especially from the electricity sector.    

Local communities will gain an important benefit of the revenue from the property tax to be paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. at the rate of 2% of the value of the pipeline section located in the territory of a given commune.

The project is implemented on the basis of the provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in regasification terminal for liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście (for consolidated text see Journal of Laws of 2021, item 1836).

Decision on environmental conditions
On October 15, 2024, the Regional Director of Environmental Protection in Warsaw issued a decision, marked: WOOŚ-II.420.47.2024.JK.15, on environmental conditions for the project entitled “Construction of DN500 MOP 8.4 MPa gas pipeline between Wola Karczewska and Karczew ”.

Decision on location
February 20, 2025. The Mazovian Governor has issued a decision under the sign: WIR-I.747.3.22.2024.DM on establishing the location of the investment entitled: “ Construction of DN500 MOP 8.4 MPa gas pipeline between Wola Karczewska and Karczew”.

Building permit decision
On 3 June 2026, the Mazovian Province Governor issued Decision No. 345/SAAB/2026 (reference number: WIR-I.7840.8.9.2025. LK/AC) approving the construction design and granting planning permission for the project entitled: Construction of a DN500, MOP 8.4 MPa gas pipeline between Wola Karczewska and Karczew as part of the construction of gas pipelines to alter the route of the existing high-pressure gas pipeline between Mory and Wola Karczewska.

Under a special act regulating gas infrastructure projects, compensation payments are guaranteed to the owners of the land affected by the project development.

The compensation payment process is carried out in accordance with an administrative procedure, under the supervision of the competent Voivode. First, an independent expert is commissioned to carry out an assessment, which is the basis for determining the amount of compensation. Upon completion of the construction process, the Voivode issues an administrative decision specifying the amount of compensation due.
