Lwówek Gas Compressor Station

Works on gas compressor station

GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., the gas transmission operator, has obtained funding for the ‘Construction of the Lwówek Gas Compressor Station’ project from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 programme.

Basic parameters and description of the investment:
The following scope of work will be carried out as part of the investment:

  • construction of a gas compressor station equipped with three compressor units with a total capacity of 24 MW,
  • construction of a bidirectional regulation and metering station enabling gas transmission between the National Transmission Network (KSP) and the Transit Gas Pipeline System (SGT) in Zębowo (2 x 1,600,000 m3/h),
  • construction of two DN1000 connection gas pipelines with a length of approx. 300 m, connecting the Lwówek Gas Compressor Station with the Zębowo Valve and Relief Unit,
  • construction of medium-voltage power connections with a total length of approx. 15 km.

Objectives and effects of the investment:

  • The construction of the Lwówek Gas Compressor Station is being carried out as part of the SGT Programme, which aims to increase the integration of the National Gas Transmission System with the Polish section of the Transit Gas Pipeline System.
  • The direct objective of the compressor station construction is to create a connection between the SGT and the KSP in the vicinity of the Lwówek Junction, i.e. the place where the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline ends and the North-South Corridor gas pipelines begin.
  • The construction of the compressor station, combined with the expansion of the Lwówek node, will thus increase the number of gas transmission directions using the SGT infrastructure.

The investment will bring the following benefits:

  • Increased efficiency of the National Transmission System.
  • Enabling the transmission of gas flowing from the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście and the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline towards central and eastern Poland.
  • Increased capacity of the North-South Corridor (Goleniów-Odolanów trunk line).
  • Improved flexibility of the NTS in the event of emergencies.

Investment value:
Total project value – PLN 892,015,830.49
Contribution from European Funds – PLN 559,863,489.91
