The investment has enabled full capacity utilisation in the Underground Gas Storage in Strachocina, as well as the interoperability of the national transmission system with the new Poland-Slovakia interconnection. The project is a vital link in the integration of the Polish and Slovak transmission systems, and also of the Polish and Ukrainian ones, especially in the context of the planned construction of a new gas pipeline between Poland and Ukraine. The Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline is also an important component of the North-South Gas Corridor.

The project was implemented on the basis of the provisions of the Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in regasification terminal for liquefied natural gas in Świnoujście (for consolidated text see Journal of Laws of 2021, item 1836).
The project has been granted funding from the European Union under the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2014-2020.
The maximum amount of co-financing under the contract was almost PLN 128 million.
