Amber Gas Corridor
About the initiative
Amber Gas Corridor is a regional initiative creating a reliable and competitive gas transmission route from the Baltic-Finnish region to Central and Eastern Europe. The initiative is based on existing infrastructure and cooperation between transmission system operators:
- Amber Grid (Lithuania),
- KN Energies (Lithuania),
- Conexus Baltic Grid (Latvia),
- Elering (Estonia),
- Gasgrid Finland (Finland),
- GAZ-SYSTEM (Poland).
Benefits for Market Participants
- Easy market access. A clear and simple registration process enables quick entry to the Baltic–Finnish gas markets.
- Capacity availability. Capacities are often available at key cross-border interconnection points between Finland and the Baltic States, as well as between Lithuania and Poland.
- Transparent capacity booking. At interconnection points, capacities are booked via the GSA Platform capacity booking platform, applying clear, transparent, and market-based allocation procedures.
- Competitive transportation routes. The corridor provides a reliable alternative to existing gas supply routes, ensuring competitive transportation costs and transparent pricing.
- Security of supply and route flexibility. Gas supply is supported by LNG terminals and gas storages. Market participants can choose different transportation routes and shape gas flows from Finland (Inkoo) or Lithuania (Klaipėda) according to market needs.

The purpose of this survey is to identify needs and areas for improvement in order to ensure more efficient gas transportation via the Amber Gas Corridor — from Finland’s Inkoo LNG Terminal or Lithuania’s Klaipėda LNG Terminal, through the gas transmission systems of Finland, the Baltic States, and Poland, to Ukraine and other Central and Eastern European countries.
