Second LNG delivery for the commissioning of the Świnoujście LNG Terminal

The vessel delivered the cargo of 210,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas, which is equivalent to ca. 130 million cubic meters of natural gas. It will be used to continue the commissioning of the gas facility. It will take three days to unload the vessel.
The commodity was supplied by Qatargas Operating Company Limited. Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA acts as an intermediary in the delivery under an agreement signed with Polskie LNG S.A., which is the recipient of the gas delivered for the start-up of the installation. Following regasification, the gas will be delivered to the national transmission system and will then be supplied to end users across Poland.
The first delivery of liquefied natural gas for the commissioning of the Terminal arrived on 11 December 2015. It took 8 days to unload the vessel.
7 January 2016 marked the start of tests of the re-gasification system and of the offtake of the natural gas received in the first shipment from the Świnoujście LNG terminal to the national transmission system. The quantities received conform to the schedule provided by the general contractor of the LNG terminal. On 8 January 2016, simultaneously with the delivery of the gas to the transmission system, adjustments and tests of particular settings of the LNG terminal were commenced, including the optimization and stabilization of the re-gasification process.
Following the completion of all the performance tests, once the operating permit is obtained and the LNG Terminal is taken over from the general contractor, the infrastructure will be prepared to receive commercial deliveries.
The Świnoujście LNG Terminal has been designed to receive, regasify and deliver even 5 billion cubic meters of gas per annum into the Polish transmission system. The facilities constructed as part of the project include a new breakwater with a length of ca. 3 km, an unloading jetty with one berth that will be able to unload methane carriers with the capacity ranging from 120,000 cubic meters of LNG (for conventional vessels) to 217,000 cubic meters (for Q-Flex size vessels), two LNG storage cryogenic tanks (each with the capacity of 160,000 cubic meters), regasification facilities and the 85 kilometer long Świnoujście-Szczecin pipeline, connecting the LNG Terminal with the Polish transmission system. The Świnoujście LNG Terminal is the only facility of such size in the Northern Europe and in the CEE.
