New purchasing policy in GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.
The new Purchasing Policy in GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. was introduced on 1 February 2011. The purpose of introducing the new principles of purchase organisation is to increase the effectiveness of company management in this field.The new purchasing strategy was prepared based on the international Quality for Price designator (retaining the most advantageous quality to price ratio). This certifies that the new procedure was established according to the highest standards and international practices of effective purchase management in companies. "It is the priority of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. to render the highest quality services. For this reason, we have decided to reorganise the field of purchases in the organisation in such a manner as to increase the economic advantages of the company, while at the same time retaining the principles of fair competition,” Jan Chadam, President of the Management Board of
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., stated. The new purchasing policy of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. has been detailed in the Corporate Purchasing Policy and Bid Granting Procedures and is based on three main foundations:
- the strategic coordination of purchases,
- category management,
- and the transparent allocation of duties and responsibilities.Strategic coordination requires the central management of purchases in the entire company in selected categories. The purchasing policy is based on constructing the strategy in given purchasing fields, namely, categories. "The implementation of the new purchasing policy in GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. signifies, in practice, a change in the approach to the purchasing function from an administrative to a strategic approach. This will enable our Company to increase the effectiveness of the purchasing processes making best use of the scale of the orders fulfilled by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., both in terms of the operating activities as well as the investments projects fulfilled by the Company,” Jan Chadam added. The new approach to the issue of purchasing in GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. in 2010 received recognition and was awarded at the Congress of Supply Chain Managers, organised by the Polish Association of Logistics Managers.

The Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a strategic, wholly-owned State Treasury Company responsible for the transmission of natural gas throughout Poland.
