GAZ-SYSTEM investments recognised as the priority projects in the European Union

Photo of the article On 24 November 2017, the European Commission published the third European list of projects in the natural gas sector that were granted the status of Projects of Common Interest (PCIs).
The PCI status confirms that GAZ-SYSTEM projects constitute key elements of energy security policy that is under implementation by the Polish government, and are in line with EU energy policy. This is even more important taking into consideration that the number of gas projects on subsequent PCI lists is limited - said Tomasz Stępień, President of the Management Board, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.
The investment projects undertaken by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. were analysed, evaluated and subsequently assigned the priority status in two regional initiatives focusing on natural gas:
Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan (BEMIP):
• Baltc Pipe project;
• Exptension of LNG terminal in Świnoujściel
• Poland-Lithuania Gas Interconnection (GIPL).
North-South gas interconnections in Central and Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (NSI East Gas):
• Poland - Slovakia interconnection and the North-South corridor in Eastern Poland;
• Poland - Czech Republic interconnection and the North-South corridor in Western Poland;
The PCI projects are developed and implemented as part of a scheme consisting in the application of dedicated administrative procedures, as well as specific regulatory solutions provided for in EU Regulation 347/2013. In justified cases, Projects of Common Interest are eligible for financial support under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
The PCI list is updated every two years. Its first version was published on 15 October  2013, while the second list was released on 18 November 2015.
