GAZ-SYSTEM and Caritas supported 1,600 senior citizens

Photo of the article This year since mid-May, Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Caritas Poland (Caritas Polska) have been jointly implementing a project to help senior citizens.  GAZ-SYSTEM has allocated over half a million PLN for this purpose. The program was implemented in 64 communes located in 10 voivodships.
- Social support programs implemented by the company, such as 'GAZ-SYSTEM for Senior Citizens', address the most deprived and disadvantaged. This year, for the first time, we targeted the elderly who were so heavily exposed to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. We are glad that thanks to our cooperation with Caritas Poland we could reach out to them with assistance, said Tomasz Stępień, President of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.
- The support provided by GAZ-SYSTEM made it possible to forget, at least for a moment, about the hardships of everyday life faced by the elderly or ill. The project is worthy of continuation and expansion -, assured rev. Dr. Marcin Iżycki, director of Caritas Poland.
Support was aimed at the 60 plus population, at risk of social exclusion due to poverty, lack of independence or disability. The assistance was provided in communes where GAZ-SYSTEM operates the existing gas network and carries out investments. Distribution of meals and packages was conducted through 10 diocesan Caritas branches and through parishes. The project involved Caritas centers from Gdańsk, Przemyśl, Szczecin, Opole, Sosnowiec, Toruń, Zielona Góra, Ełk, Łomża, and also Caritas Poland, which implemented a project in Warsaw.
800 senior citizens received Life Packages containing, among other things: Sodexo shopping vouchers worth PLN 100, Caritas Life Envelope (in which one can store information needed by paramedics), cotton mask and disposable masks, as well as antiviral gel for hand disinfection.
Another 800 senior citizens s received hot meals (delivered to their homes twice a week) for 3 months and were given an Envelope of Life, antiviral gel for hand disinfection and disposable masks.
