Gas pipeline connection between Poland and Czech Republic
On 18 of September 2009, Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. herein starts Podbeskidzie Region Capacity Facilitation procedure by the publication of “Regulations regarding Podbeskidzie Region Capacity Facilitation”. Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Czech transmission operator RWE Transgas Net, s.r.o. have undertaken common actions with the aim to establish gas pipeline connection between Czech and Polish transmission systems in Český Těšín/Cieszyn area. It is foresee that interconnector will enable the gas transport from Czech Republic to Poland in the magnitude of 500 million cm/a starting from 2011.The Procedure initiated by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., shall constitute a tool to assess the market demand for transmission capacity. Its effective implementation will constitute the basis for a decision on the realization of the interconnector. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. expect that respective contracts for gas transport shall be concluded in the mid of November 2009. In parallel to GAZ-SYSTEMS.A.procedure, similar procedure shall be conducted on Czech side. Both procedures were coordinated regarding general rules, assumed capacity and timing with respect to the legal environment.
