Framework agreements for the supply of pipes for strategic transmission gas pipelines
The Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. has completed the public bidding procedure for the supply of pipes with a diameter of 500 mm to implement strategic transmission gas pipelines. As a result of the procedure there have been selected two contractors - Izostal S.A. and a consortium led by Ferrum S.A. The contractors signed framework agreements for a period of 24 months. Specific orders will be implemented on the basis of separate sub-contracts to be concluded in each case after accepting the best bid. The total value GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. intends to allocate for implementation of these agreements will not exceed the amount of PLN 62.9 million net. Due to the huge range of investment works, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. decided to apply the optimal manner of implementation of investment projects, involving the purchase of materials for the construction of gas pipelines (pipes and fixtures) directly from the manufacturer. This way of implementation of projects can significantly speed up investment works and improve the cost-effectiveness. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. plans to build by 2014 more than 1,000 km of new transmission gas pipelines. Strategic gas pipelines will be built in northwestern and central Poland. These will be the following connections: Szczecin-Lwówek, Świnoujście-Szczecin, Szczecin-Gdańsk, Włocławek-Gdynia, Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn, Gustorzyn-Odolanów. A very important element of the investment plan of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is expansion of the transmission network in Lower Silesia. In this area there will be constructed the following gas pipelines: Jeleniów-Dziwiszów, Polkowice-Żary and Taczalin-Radakowice-Gałów. These investments will enable the transmission of increased quantities of natural gas from the direction of Germany at the end of 2011.GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is also responsible for the implementation of interconnectors. In addition to the development of the connection in Lasów on the Polish-German border, the capacity of which will increase up to 1.5 billion cubic meters per year, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is constructing a gas pipeline to the Czech Republic which will be the second interconnector between Poland and the gas system of the European Union. It will enable the transmission of approximately 0.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. also carries out preparatory work on the project of an undersea connection of transmission systems of Poland and Denmark, that is the Baltic Pipe. Many of strategic projects implemented by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. received funding from the European Union. The company is the beneficiary of the following EU programs: the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR), the Trans-European Networks-Energy (TEN-E) and the Innovative Economy Operational Programme and the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme. Within the framework of the European Energy Programme for Recovery, the European Commission has selected three investment projects of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. for financing – the value of financing of these investments will be EUR 75 million. At least PLN 1.2 billion will come from the funds of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007-2013 (IEOP). And the pre-investment phase of the Baltic Pipe project receives funding from the program TEN-E.
