Decisions on construction permits for construction of Stage I and Stage III of the Szczecin-Gdańsk gas pipeline on the Płoty Karlino route with the length of approximately 61.95 km (Stage I) and on the Koszalin-Słupsk route together with a system of in/out gas locks in Reblino with the length of approximately 69 km (Stage III) were issued in February 2012. Consequently, the gas pipeline comprising four stages has a full set of decisions on construction permits for Stages  II, III and IV. In the case of Stage I, the construction permit for the section of the gas pipeline of approximately 2 km at the area of wind power plant in Karścino needs to be obtained.
The Szczecin-Gdańsk gas pipeline with the length of approximately 265 km is located in Zachodniopomorskie and Pomorskie voivodships. Construction of the investment will be divided in four stages: Płoty-Karlino, Karlino-Koszalin, Koszalin-Słupsk and Słupsk-Wiczlino. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. has also obtained the environmental decision for this gas pipeline.
The estimated value of the investment is PLN 929.20 million, while the co-financing amount from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment is PLN 226.88 million. Gustorzyn-Odolanów (PLN 175.45 million), Szczecin-Lwówek (PLN 159.26 million), Włocławek-Gdynia (PLN 21.47 million), Jeleniów-Dziwiszów (PLN 43.90 million), Polkowice-Żary (PLN 25.59 million) and Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn (PLN 121.55 million) gas pipelines are also co-financed from resources of this Programme.
The planned date of the investment completion is October 2013.

The Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is a strategic company, wholly owned by the State Treasury, responsible for natural gas transmissions throughout Poland. The Company manages assets worth approximately of PLN 5 billion comprised mainly of elements of the transmission system, including more than 9.7 thousand km of high pressure pipelines, 15 compressor stations, 56 hubs and 970 exit points. The Company employs over 2,000 persons. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is also an owner of Polskie LNG S.A. established for the purposes of the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Świnoujście.
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. plans building over 1,000 km of new gas transmission pipelines by 2014. The most important ones will be in north-west and central Poland (Szczecin-Lwówek, Świnoujście-Szczecin, Szczecin-Gdańsk, Włocławek-Gdynia, Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn, Gustorzyn-Odolanów). The extension of the gas transmission networks in Poland may constitute an important element of the North-South Gas Corridor connecting the LNG terminal in Świnoujście with the planned Adria LNG terminal with the aid of the transmission infrastructure of Central European countries.
In 2011, GAZ–SYSTEM S.A. completed the construction of the Włocławek–Gdynia gas pipeline, the gas compressor station in Goleniów and the gas compressor station in Jarosław. The Company has also opened the new Poland –Czech Republic interconnector, which will enable the transmission of approximately 0.5 bcm of gas annually. GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. was also developing gas pipelines in Lower Silesia, in order to enable the off-take of increased amounts of gas from the western direction. The current capacity of the Lasów point on the Polish-German border is 1.5 bcm of gas annually (previous capacity was 0.9 bcm of gas annually).
Investments completed by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. in 2011, along with the possibility of using virtual reverse flow services on the Yamal pipeline, have created the technical possibilities for the import to Poland of over 3,3 bcm of gas annually from new sources (approximately 30% of the current imports).
