Construction of the Gustorzyn-Wronów gas pipeline commences

Photo of the article In November this year,  GAZ-SYSTEM concluded the first agreement with the contractor for the construction of the gas pipeline section that runs from Rawa Mazowiecka to Wronów. At the same time, as part of investor deliveries, the company concluded a contract for the supply of pipes, which will be used, among others, for the implementation of this project.
The entire Gustorzyn - Wronów gas pipeline with a length of 308 km will increase security and continuity of gas supply to consumers in central Poland. Its task is to connect the hub and gas compressor station under construction in Gustorzyn with the hub and compressor station in Wronowo. The implementation of this investment is divided into three stages:
  • stage I Gustorzyn - Leśniewice with the length of 54 km;
  • stage II Leśniewice - Rawa Mazowiecka with the length of 100 km;
  • stage III Rawa Mazowiecka - Wronów with the length of 154 km.

"The new gas pipeline in central Poland will increase the flexibility of gas transmission control and ensure security and continuity of gas supply to customers in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Łódzkie, Mazowieckie and Lubelskie voivodships. We have just signed the first of three contracts with contractors for the implementation of the longest stage of this investment, which means that our project has entered the execution phase" - said Marcin Kapkowski, Vice-President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM.
The contract signed with ROMGOS provides for the construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline with a diameter of one meter and the accompanying infrastructure. It consists of: a fibre-optic telemetry and control line, a switching system at the gas compressor station in Wronów and eight Block and Bleed Units. In order to protect the environment, 92 trenchless crossings under watercourses and communication infrastructure of a total length of nearly 6,300 metres were designed along the pipeline route.
Additionally, in November this year, GAZ-SYSTEM concluded two contracts for the supply of over 150 km of steel pipes for the Gustorzyn - Wronów gas pipeline. The first contract was signed with a Greek supplier, Corinth Pipeworks SA, while the second was concluded with a consortium of Polish companies: IZOSTAL - STALPROFIL - FERRUM.
An important benefit of this project for the local community will be the property tax paid annually by GAZ-SYSTEM in the amount of up to 2% of the value of the transmission infrastructure built in the given municipality. This will be an amount that regularly flows into the budget, which can be allocated to local needs.
The project is being implemented under the Act of 24 April 2009 on investment projects related to the Świnoujście Liquefied Natural Gas Regasification Terminal (consolidated text - Dz.U. of 2021, item 1836), so-called special-purpose gas act.
The European Commission has granted the investment the status of the Project of Common Interest (PCI).
