In reference to comments in the local media regarding the operations of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście, we would like to emphasise that for many years GAZ-SYSTEM has been a responsible and committed partner to the local community, actively participating in the search for solutions that take into account both the needs of local residents while meeting the operational requirements of infrastructure vital to Poland's national energy security.

From the outset of our operations in Świnoujście, we have been dedicated to acting as a responsible neighbour and fostering growth of the town, local community and the region. Every year, GAZ-SYSTEM provides a steady contribution to the local budget, currently amounting to PLN 70 million in annual taxes. Since 2016, the cumulative value of these payments has amounted to almost half a billion zlotys. The said funds are allocated directly to the local government to be further invested in public and community-driven projects.

Besides those fiscal contributions, we have been actively engaged in supporting local cultural, sporting and educational initiatives for many years. The company is involved in projects aimed at children, youth and residents of the region, building lasting relationships with the local community. Fostering a secure environment for both residents and visitors in Świnoujście remains a cornerstone of our community commitment. In recent years, we have allocated substantial funding to the services responsible for public safety, including the State Fire Service, the Police and the Border Guard. These financial resources directly strengthen their operational readiness, ensuring a higher standard of safety both to locals and holidaymakers visiting the region.

Since the beginning of LNG Terminal’s operations, we have collaborated with Świnoujście municipal authorities to minimise the impact of the project on access to tourist attractions, including the landmarks such as the Lighthouse and the Gerhard Fort. We have collaborated closely on upgrading road infrastructure and expanding alternative transit networks. The company has allocated substantial financial resources to the implementation of these projects.

However, the subsequent establishment of a mandatory security zone by the West Pomeranian Province Governor along with safety restrictions introduced in the vicinity of the LNG Terminal have blocked the execution of our original transit plans. Despite those legal hurdles, GAZ-SYSTEM has not withdrawn from its commitments and remains ready to contribute financially to the development of alternative routes to make Świnoujście tourist attractions accessible to the public.

In view of recent developments, we have presented the Świnoujście Municipal Authorities with a new, comprehensive agreement aligned with current conditions.
  • The core of our proposal involves shifting access routes to local historic sites from land to water. Together with the Szczecin and Świnoujście Seaports Authority, we declare our commitment to financing the purchase of two passenger vessels to serve as a water tram to the Lighthouse and Gerhard Fort. Designed as a sustainable, long-term measure, this strategy safely responds to the existing regulatory and security constraints.
  • Furthermore, the agreement is also intended to resolve ownership issues regarding land situated in the immediate vicinity of the LNG Terminal’s critical infrastructure, and to definitively conclude and formally settle previous arrangements which, for reasons beyond the parties’ control, could not be fully implemented.
  • The proposal also provides for controlled access to the Lighthouse, Gerhard Fort and other facilities located in the vicinity of the LNG Terminal for personnel performing official duties at these historic venues.
We fully understand that large-scale infrastructure developments often spark varied public opinions and emotional debates. Nevertheless, we maintain that discussions regarding Świnoujście’s future should acknowledge both the LNG Terminal’s importance to Poland's energy security and GAZ-SYSTEM's substantial contributions to local development and community support.

At present, the LNG terminal in Świnoujście satisfies about 30 percent of Poland’s demand for natural gas, providing a vital energy source for citizens and a key fuel for the country's economy.

GAZ-SYSTEM remains fully committed to transparent dialogue and ongoing cooperation with local authorities, residents, and everyone involved. Furthermore, the company declares its readiness to support measures that improve accessibility to the right-bank districts, while continuing to implement community-focused initiatives under our corporate social responsibility framework.
