The European Commission has entered two GAZ-SYSTEM initiatives on the latest list of European Union Projects of Common Interest (PCI) published on 1 December 2025. It means that the following three key investment projects in the field of hydrogen have been recognised: the Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor and the Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster.

- The PCI status confirms that our hydrogen projects correspond with the direction of the European energy transition. These projects will contribute to the development of a modern, safe and low-carbon economy both in Poland and in the region. The status granted to those initiatives also provides access to EU financial support, which is of pivotal importance in building a low-carbon fuel market, said Sławomir Hinc, President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM.

The investment projects pursued by GAZ-SYSTEM analysed by the European Commission and subsequently granted priority status constitute a part of regional hydrogen network initiatives, including:
  1. Nordic-Baltic Hydrogen Corridor – an international project with a view to creating a hydrogen transmission corridor from Finland across the Baltic States and Poland to Germany. It is conceived to enable the development of hydrogen potential in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea basin and ensure access to reliable supplies of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen to the countries along the transmission corridor.
  2. Pomeranian Green Hydrogen Cluster – the project involving the construction of a dedicated hydrogen infrastructure in north-western Poland and north-eastern Germany to enable the connection of hydrogen production facilities with hydrogen consumers across the project area. In addition, a cross-border interconnection between Poland and Germany will be constructed.
The PCI status granted to GAZ-SYSTEM projects is an important step towards building a modern and low-carbon energy infrastructure in Europe. Recognising investment projects related to hydrogen transmission as Projects of Common Interest emphasises their strategic role in the energy transition process and in strengthening security of supply in the region.

The PCI status granted to the projects enables the application of best practice already at the pre-investment stage, primarily through the use of special administrative and permitting procedures, as well as dedicated regulatory solutions within the scope specified in Regulation (EU) 2022/869 on guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure. Project investors may also apply for funding under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), provided that additional requirements are duly met.
