Rembelszczyzna - EC Żerań gas pipeline commencement of construction work
- At the beginning of October, the construction of a 10 km high-pressure DN500 gas pipeline, which will connect the Rembelszczyzna Compressor Station with the Żerań Heat and Power Plant, begins. The basic construction works necessary to start gas transmission will be carried out by two contractors - JT S.A. and TESGAS S.A. - says Gracjan Wyszyński, project manager with GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. in Rembelszczyzna.The contractor for the line part of JT S.A. is responsible for the construction of the gas pipeline, including the construction of underground passages under the tracks, roads and the Żerań Canal using trenchless technology. At the same time, TESGAS S.A. started to build gas facilities, which will be the switching system in the area of Tłocznia Rembelszczyzna and the measurement station located in the EC Żerań plant.
- We will make every effort to ensure that the investment is conducted in the least burdensome way for the residents. However, it is important to take into account the temporary restrictions on access to the duct resulting from the obligation to comply with the safety requirements for construction work, said Marcin Tadeusiak, President of JT S.A. - He also adds that they will keep city services and residents of nearby housing estates and houses informed about the scope of works and progress of works. The investment will be implemented within the next 16 months.
As with every construction project, the connection of Żerań CHP Plant to the gas network of GAZ-SYSTEM will consist of several separately conducted stages, separated according to the industry specificity. - Currently, works related to the so-called gas pipeline part are starting. From October 8, 2018, earthworks related to the construction of micro-tunnel chambers with a length of approx. 100 m will be carried out in the area of ul. Jana Kazimierza in the Nieporęt Commune. At the same time, there will be carried out earthworks related a microtunnel under ul. Modlińska on the premises of the KS Spójnia Sports Club - informs Gracjan Wyszyński from GAZ-SYSTEM.
After the completion of the gas pipeline construction, the investor will renovate the area in accordance with the regulations. At November 17, 2016 GAZ-SYSTEM has made a public declaration on planting 1500 trees, of specified parameters, in the assembly strip after the completion of the works. In line with previous assurances and expectations of the local community, a public consultations were held at the end of 2017. Their effect was a preliminary concept of land development on the Żerań Canal, prepared by Utila company from Warsaw. The results of the consultations can be used in the project to reconstruct the construction and assembly strip after the investment and to prepare the plan of planting 1500 trees, so as to enable, as much as possible, the implementation of the proposals made by the residents.
About investment
The construction of a 10 km gas pipeline from the Gas Compressor Station in Rembelszczyzna along the Żerań Canal is essential for the commissioning of a modern gas and steam unit at the Żerań Heat and Power Plant, which will increase electricity production by approx. 80 percent. The investment will increase the level of energy security in the Warsaw agglomeration in terms of heat and power supply, and will also improve air quality. Currently, CHP Żerań has the potential to heat about 43% of buildings in Warsaw and light about 6 million 60 W incandescent lamps.
The investment is carried out on the basis of the provisions of the amended Act of 24 April 2009 on investments in the scope of the liquefied natural gas regasification terminal in Świnoujście (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2017, item 2302, as amended) on the basis of the location decision of the Mazowieckie Voivode issued on 13 April 2016, as well as a valid building permit of 19 September 2016.
