Public hearing concerning the Baltic Pipe project

Photo of the article GAZ-SYSTEM invites all interested parties to a public hearing concerning the implementation of the Baltic Pipe project. The meeting will be held on 7 March 2018 in Szczecin under the PCI (Project of Common Interest) procedure, which ensures transparency of the preparatory stage of project implementation and allows for public participation.
The Baltic Pipe project is implemented with due regard to the rights of all interested parties and the natural environment. So far two public hearings concerning the implementation of the project have been held – in the Swedish city of Malmö and in Stralsund in northern Germany. The consultations involved e.g. a presentation of the proposed route of the new pipeline under the Baltic Sea with variants and explanation of methods of laying offshore gas pipelines.
The next public hearing concerning the Baltic Pipe project will take place on 7 March 2018 (Wednesday) in the Zachodniopomorskie Office of the Voivode in Szczecin between 4 pm and 7 pm. The purpose of the meeting is to present the most important information concerning the construction of the new pipeline to the local communities, non-governmental organisations and all interested parties. During the meeting, the scope and schedule of the project will be discussed along with the work progress, the most important types of offshore and onshore impacts and the implemented environmental investigations.
The meeting is open to the media.
You will find the detailed agenda of the public hearing in the attachment (only Polish version)

The Baltic Pipe is a strategic infrastructure project, with the goal of creating a new gas supply corridor on the European market. The project will enable transporting gas from Norway to the Polish and Danish markets and to end users in neighbouring countries. The Baltic Pipe will also enable gas transmission from Poland to Denmark and Sweden. The project is implemented by the Polish gas transmission operator GAZ-SYSTEM and the operator of the Danish gas transmission system Energinet.
The European Commission has classified the Baltic Pipe as a “Project of Common Interest” (PCI). This status is awarded to infrastructural projects that are aimed at strengthening the European internal energy market and pursue the objectives of the EU energy policy involving the provision of affordable, secure and sustainable energy.
The PCI status emphasises the role of the Baltic Pipe project in the Baltic Sea region and in Central and Eastern Europe, its particular significance for increasing the security and diversification of natural gas supply in Europe and building an integrated and competitive gas market.
