New tariff of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.

Photo of the article On 7 May 2009, the President of the Energy Regulatory Office approved the new tariff of the Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A.
The tariff comes into force not earlier than 14 days and not later than 45 days after its publication. The transmission service rate goes up by an average of 7% compared with the previous tariff. The transmission charge accounts for a small percentage of the overall price paid by recipients of natural gas. Despite the current increase, the tariff rates have not gone back to the level from before the 2008 reduction.
The gas transmission charges are the basic source of revenues of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. The Company applied for an increase of the transmission rates due to the need to secure the financing of its planned investment projects connected with the extension of the domestic gas network and the involvement of the Company in diversification projects, including the LNG terminals.
By the year 2014 the Company plans to build approximately 1,000 km of new gas pipelines in Poland. The planned investment outlays relating to the extension of the domestic transmission system exceed PLN 5 billion. Strategic investment projects are being implemented in north-western Poland, where the following pipelines are to be constructed: Szczecin-Gdańsk, Szczecin–Lwówek,  Świnoujście-Szczecin, Włocławek-Gdynia.
The Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. is also the owner of Polskie LNG sp. z o.o. formed for the purpose of building and operating the LNG terminal in Świnoujście.
