Naming the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście after President Lech Kaczyński

The LNG Terminal in Świnoujście is one of the most important elements of gaining Poland’s energy self-sufficiency and diversification of sources of gas. Thanks to support and determination of President Lech Kaczyński, the project of the Terminal construction was initiated, starting from the decision of the National Security Council of 22 May 2006, which included, among others, instruction to prepare the investment terms.
The ceremony is organized by Piotr Naimski, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure and Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A, the host of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście.
Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, and Beata Szydło, Prime Minister of Poland, and also people who share interest in energy security of Poland were invited to this event.
The media will be sent a separate invitation for the ceremony.
LNG Terminal was granted permission to operate in April 2016, and in May, the final acceptance test was carried out. It may deliver up to 5 billion cubic metres of gas a year to the Polish transmission network. It is the only infrastructure of that size in Northern as well as Central and Eastern Europe. Polskie LNG S.A., a subsidiary owned by GAZ-SYSTEM S.A, was responsible for construction of the investment.
