GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. signs agreement with Storage System Operator (SSO)

Photo of the article On 20 December 2012, GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. and Storage System Operator Sp. z o.o. signed an interconnection agreement.

The document sets forth the rules for day-to-day business relationship between the transmission system operator and the storage system operator.

The document signed takes into account the principles of the new gas market model arising from the new Transmission Network Operation and Maintenance
Instruction, in particular those concerning the purchase of transmission system capacity by the storage system operator at the interface with storage facilities. 
Rules have also been laid down for the functioning of the operator account which allows the storage and transmission service to fully performed in conformity with customers’ nominations.

“The integration of the storage and transmission service at the interface of the transmission network and storage facilities comes as a major improvement for customers using storage services. The solution is perfectly aligned with the principles underlying the operation of the new gas market, taking into account virtual point and gas exchange trading”, says Marcin Czub, Deputy Director, National Gas Dispatching Division.

The signing of the Agreement marks an important step towards the liberalization of the gas market in Poland. SSO is currently one of few operators in Europe to offer integrated storage and transmission services. The rules of business, agreed between the operators, will allow the combined services to be delivered in line with customers’ requests and in a manner that ensures operational security of the transmission system and storage facilities”, says Joanna Kijas, President of the Management Board, Storage System Operator.
