GAS-SYSTEM implements Laboratory of Gas Meter Calibration
On 31st May, GAZ-SYSTEM performed final acceptance of the Laboratory of Gas Meter Calibration (LWG) in Hołowczyce in Podlasie district. It is the first such object in Poland. It will be used in calibration process of gas metres for measuring gas volume in settlements with customers.
– The LWG construction project comprised two parts: research and development and implementation. It has been designed in the first part and measuring unit was built in the second one being the most important part of the laboratory. It allows calibrating gas metres with natural gas in conditions mostly similar to those that are in the transmission system, i.e. at high pressure – says Tomasz Jakubiak, Head of LWG in Hołowczyce.
LWG in Hołowczyce has the possibility of working in two modes:
- open (which means that gas is collected from the network and flow is regulated by a gas pump;
- close (when the flow is enforced by a special compressor).
So far, gas meter calibration at high pressure was possible only abroad. It resulted not only in increase of costs that could excedd the value of the gas meter as such but also in prologation of expectation time for completing a service. – Apart from offering commercial services, the Laboratory will also perform research and development activity on the current base concerning gas flow, metrology and devices used in the transmission system – adds Aneta Korda-Burza, acting as Director of Laboratory Systems in GAZ-SYSTEM.
Permission for using the object for the building part was obtained already in December 2014. Afterwards, complicated works were performed connected with the start-up and configuration of a calibration device. In September 2016, Inspectors of Technical Supervision inspected control system and a system of securities testing all key devices built in in the technological system. In October, a notified body “UDI-CERT” issued so called “ Certificate of Conformity” completed with the issuance of a decision allowing the use of laboratory devices.
The next stage of works that took place from March to May, was a detailed verification of engineering documentation (post-performance) that confirmed the satisfaction of all terms and conditions specified in the contract from consortium of executive companies: Techmadex S.A., Atrem S.A. and GP Energia Sp. z o.o.
Construction of Gas Meters Calibration Laboratory was performed within the Financing Contract UDA-POIG.01.04.00-14-086/09-00 and UDA-POIG.04.01.00-14-086/09-00 for the activity 1.4 „Supporting purposeful projects” of the priority axis 1 „Research and development of modern technologies” and activity 4.1 „Supporting implementations of results of R&D works” of priority axis 4 „Investments in innovative activities” of the Operating Program Innovative Economy (POIG) for the years 2007-2013.
In December 2009, GAZ-SYSTEM SA concluded a contract with the Polish Agency of the Development of Entrepreneurship for financing the project “ Elaborating and implementing gas meters calibration technologies at middle and high pressure in the open-closed system”. Through community resources from POIG it was possible to obtain refund of over 35% building costs of the Laboratory of the total value of ca. 10 mln PLN. In the financial and reporting part, the final settlement of the project will take place in the second half of 2017.
