Gas pipeline connection between Czech and Polish transmission systems

Photo of the article Czech transmission operator, RWE Transgas Net, s.r.o. and Polish Gas Transmission Operator GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. have undertaken common actions with the aim to establish gas pipeline connection between Czech and Polish transmission systems in Český Těšín/Cieszyn area.
The interconnector is foreseen to enable the gas transport from Czech Republic to Poland in the magnitude of 500 million cm/a. The interconnector will be prepared to enable the gas transmission in the opposite direction, but only in emergency situation and with limited capacity. The up to day commissioning of intended interconnector is scheduled for 1st of January, 2011.
As part of the project the Capacity Allocation Procedure shall be conducted and the subscription window will be opened from 18th of September to 19th of October 2009. The Capacity Allocation Procedures shall be conducted separately by both operators, however the underlying principles specifically related to capacity and time schedule have been harmonized with respect to legal environment.
The Capacity Allocation Procedures shall constitute a tool to assess the market demand for transmission capacity. Its effective implementation will constitute the basis for a decision on the realization of the interconnector. Both operators expect that respective contracts for gas transport shall be concluded in the mid of November 2009.
