The Pomorski Voivode has issued a building permit for the Kolnik – Gdańsk gas pipeline which makes part of the FSRU Onshore project.

The Kolnik – Gdańsk gas pipeline is one of the three onshore pipeline sections included in the FSRU project. It will be approx. 35 kilometres long with a diameter of DN1000 and a pressure of 8.4 MPa. The pipeline will enable the transmission of gas, which will be first received and regasified at the FSRU terminal located in the Gulf of Gdańsk, to central Poland.

“We have obtained the first of three construction permits required for the approximately 250km onshore section of the FSRU project. Once the permitting process has been completed and contractors selected, we plan to begin construction work on this project immediately” said Tomasz Stępień, President of the Management Board GAZ-SYSTEM.

The gas pipeline will run through 5 municipalities in the Pomorskie Voivodeship including the City of Gdańsk, Pruszcz Gdański, Cedry Wielkie, Suchy Dąb and Pszczółki. Along with the high-pressure pipeline, an FSRU metering station and a fibre optic cable will also be built.

The onshore part of the FSRU includes, in addition to the Kolnik – Gdańsk, two other gas pipelines: Gardeja – Kolnik with a length of approximately 86 km and Gustorzyn – Gardeja with a length of approximately 128 km. Currently, both are in the engineering phase.

Additional information:

The FSRU project is a continuation of the process of diversifying Poland’s gas supply. The purpose of the investment project is to create an infrastructure that will enable the off-take of additional LNG volumes delivered by sea, their subsequent regasification and delivery to the National Transmission System. The development will include a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the Gulf of Gdańsk, with the capabilities required for LNG unloading, in-process storage and regasification, as well as for additional services that may be provided.

According to the schedule, the commissioning of the Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the Gulf of Gdańsk is planned for 2027/2028.
The European Commission has granted the PCI (Project of Common Interest) status to the project. The program has been included in fourth list of EU’s Projects of Common Interest (PCI list) published in March 2020.
