Expansion of gas pipelines in Lower Silesia - subsequent tenders have been settled

Photo of the article GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. selected the provider of fittings for strategic gas pipelines being built in the territory of Lower Silesia. Thanks to that, there will be ensured effective implementation of  investments which will enable the delivery of increased quantities of natural gas from the West.
The company GAZOMET Sp. z.o.o., selected as a result of a public tender procedure, will be the provider of fittings for investment tasks associated with building of the  gas pipelines Taczalin-Radakowice and Radakowice-Gałów. The contractor signed a contract of a value of PLN 1 135 552.00  net for the supply of fittings and a contract of a value of PLN 344 400.00 net for the supply of a lock allowing inspection of the gas pipeline during its operation.
The contracts signed implement the strategy of orders consisting in the purchase of materials for the construction of gas pipelines (pipes and fittings) directly from the manufacturer. In July this year there was concluded a separate contract for the supply of over 30 km of pipes for the gas pipeline Taczalin-Radakowice-Gałów. This optimal implementation of the projects can significantly speed up investment works and improve cost-effectiveness.
Investments of GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. in Lower Silesia are implemented primarily through expansion of the transmission system from the direction of Lasowo (on the German-Polish border). Construction of new gas pipelines in the region will enable the transmission of increased quantities of natural gas from the direction of Germany at the end of 2011. Thanks to the newly-built gas pipelines, it will be possible to increase the supply of gas from the West by about 0.5 billion cubic meters of gas. Currently, the interconnection point in Lasowo allows to receive about 0.9 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Expansion of the gas pipeline system in Lower Silesia and the network connection point in Lasowo, which is the entry point of gas from the direction of Germany to the Polish transmission system, has been recognized by the Polish Government as a strategic investment in improving national energy security. Expansion of the gas pipeline system in Lower Silesia was granted funding by the European Commission under the European Energy Plan for Recovery (EEPR, the so called Recovery Plan) which aims to contribute to economic recovery in the European Union and increase the security of energy supply through the development of cross-border infrastructure. The resources at the amount of EUR 14.4 million obtained from the EU will be used to construct the gas pipeline Taczalin-Radakowice-Gałów as well as to modernize the gas pipeline Dziwiszów-Taczalin, construct the Gas Compressor Station Jeleniów II and expand the point in Lasowo. Part of gas pipelines built in Lower Silesia will also be partially funded from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme.
GAZ-SYSTEM S.A. plans to build by 2014 more than 1,000 km of new transmission gas pipelines. On the territory of Lower Silesia the company carries out projects to build the following gas pipelines: Jeleniów-Dziwiszów, Polkowice-Żary and Taczalin-Radakowice-Gałów. Strategic gas pipelines will also be constructed in north-western and central Poland. These will be the following connections: Szczecin-Lwówek, Świnoujście-Szczecin, Szczecin-Gdańsk, Włocławek-Gdynia, Rembelszczyzna-Gustorzyn, Gustorzyn-Odolanów.
