Subsequent environmental decision for the project under the Baltic Pipe Program

The gas pipeline connecting the offshore pipeline with the National Transmission System will be approximately 85-90 km long, its nominal diameter will be 900 mm (the onshore gas pipeline from the Line Valve Station in Niechorze to the Receiving Terminal) and its operating pressure will be 12 MPa and 8.4 MPa.
The gas pipeline will be built in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The route of the designed gas pipeline connecting the offshore gas pipeline with the National Transmission System will be as follows:
- section of the DN900 gas pipeline from the Line Valve Station located in Niechorze to the Receiving Terminal located in Konarzewo, communes of Rewal, Karnice (approx. 4.5 km long),
- section of the DN1000 gas pipeline from the Receiving Terminal to Gas Transmission Hub in Płoty, communes of Karnice, Trzebiatów, Gryfice, Płoty (approx. 36.5 km long),
- section of the DN1000 gas pipeline from Płoty to Goleniów, communes of Płoty, Nowogard, Osina, Goleniów, Maszewo (approx. 42 km long).
The construction of a gas pipeline connecting the offshore gas pipeline through the Receiving Terminal with the National Transmission System will allow to receive gas from Norway and ensure technical possibility of two-way gas transmission: from Norway to Poland in the amount of 10 billion m3/year and from Poland to Denmark in the amount of 3 billion m3/year. The implementation of this project will contribute to the optimisation of the capacity of the Polish transmission system and will constitute an important element of the North-South Gas Corridor.

This is the second environmental decision for the project under the Baltic Pipe Program in Poland. The first decision was issued by the Regional Director for Environmental Protection in Gorzów Wielkopolski on 4 February 2019, for the project „Construction of the DN1000 Goleniów-Lwówek gas pipeline”.

Baltic Pipe is a project implemented in close cooperation between GAZ-SYSTEM, the Polish operator of the transmission gas pipelines and Energinet, the Danish operator of the gas and energy transmission system. It is aimed at creation of a new corridor of gas supply on the European market. The implementation of this investment will strengthen the energy security of Poland and the region of Central and Eastern Europe and will contribute to the increase of competitiveness of the Polish gas market.The Baltic Pipe Project consists of 5 components:
- gas pipeline on the bottom of the North Sea (an offshore pipeline between the Norwegian and the Danish gas transmission systems);
- expansion of the Danish transmission system (expansion of the existing transmission system in Denmark);
- compressor station in Denmark (compressor station located in the eastern part of Zealand);
- gas pipeline on the bottom of the Baltic Sea (the offshore gas pipeline between Danish and Polish gas transmission systems);
- expansion of the Polish transmission system (expansion of the existing transmission system in Poland).
In Poland, the planned projects, in addition to the construction of a gas pipeline connecting the offshore gas pipeline with the national transmission system, are:
- construction of the Goleniów-Lwówek gas pipeline;
- expansion of the gas compressor station in Goleniów;
- construction of the gas compressor station in Gustorzy;
- expansion of the gas compressor station in Odolanów.
