GAZ-SYSTEM starts the design stage for the strategic section of the gas pipeline, which is of key importance for energy security of the Warsaw metropolitan area, commonly called the “Warsaw ring”. Thanks to this investment project, Warsaw authorities will get additional support in their fight against smog, while the residents will get a chance to breathe clean air. The project will also provide further development opportunities for the gas market in the Mazovia region.

The planned Rembelszczyzna-Mory pipeline should ensure flexible operation of the transmission system, security and continuity of gas supply. The enhanced capacity for the distribution of low-emission energy sources for the needs of existing and new customers, both individual and industrial ones, will also generate significant benefits for the natural environment. Replacement of solid fuels, such as coal, with gas fuel will noticeably reduce pollution emissions and, consequently, improve air quality in Warsaw and in the communes in which the project will be implemented. The new pipeline will be ca. 30 km long. It will cross the territories of five communes: Nieporęt, Jabłonna, Łomianki, Stare Babice Ożarów Mazowiecki and three Warsaw districts: Białołęka, Bielany and Bemowo.

In the first quarter of this year, the company will start organising open meetings with residents and authorities of the districts and communes where the pipeline will be located. GAZ-SYSTEM invites all interested residents to participate in the meetings and learn more about the planned investment project.

Project design stage

On 23 February 2018, GAZ-SYSTEM signed a contract with Tractebel Engineering S.A. to prepare the design documentation for the construction of a section of the Rembelszczyzna-Mory pipeline with a diameter of DN 700 mm. It is a part of the Rembelszczyzna - Mory - Wola Karczewska pipeline. The entity responsible for preparing the design and performing designer’s supervision over the project was selected in a public tendering procedure. The responsibilities of Tractebel Engineering S.A. will include obtaining the environmental decision, the decision determining investment location and the building permit. The full design documentation should be prepared and all the required consents and permits should be obtained by the fourth quarter of 2020.

The project will be implemented under the Act on investment projects related to the Świnoujście LNG regasification terminal (Journal of Laws of 2009 No. 84, item 700, as amended), known as the “special purpose gas act”.
